Freelance journalist and photographer Janine Gates lives in Olympia, Washington.

Janine began her business, Little Hollywood, in 2009. From 2009 - 2019, Janine wrote over 500 articles for her blog, Little Hollywood, at www.janineslittlehollywood.blogspot.com. Her stories highlighted issues in the public interest, land use investigations, and local history. 

An active grandmother of two, Janine is self-employed as a caregiver for seniors and their families. She graduated from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Community Development.

Janine's love of photography, particularly aerial photography, is inspired by her dad and grandpa, both of whom were professional photographers and small plane pilots. Janine captures a bit of the beauty of the Nisqually watershed here:
